On the third anniversary of the onset of Israel’s genocide in Gaza, the Global Alliance for Palestine (GAFP), together with movements and individuals joining the global mobilisation from 9-11 October, stands before one of the bloodiest and most devastating chapters in modern human history.
What the world is witnessing today is not a series of isolated events; it is a systematic, multi-front campaign of slaughter, erasure, and forced transfer targeting the Palestinian people in their entirety.
Since 7 October 2023, the sheer scale of devastation inflicted upon the Gaza Strip has shattered human comprehension. At least 74,245 Palestinians have been killed – representing more than three per cent of Gaza’s entire pre-war population and including at least 21,000 children – meaning that one in every 30 people in Gaza has been killed by Israel’s war machine.
Independent assessments confirm that the true death toll is drastically higher, with thousands remaining buried beneath millions of tonnes of rubble.
The human toll extends far beyond the dead, as more than 175,000 Palestinians have been wounded, amounting to one in every 13 residents. Conservative World Health Organisation estimates indicate that nearly a quarter of those injured suffer from life-altering injuries requiring long-term rehabilitation.
Today, over 94 per cent of the population urgently requires shelter, with 65 per cent forced to survive in makeshift tents, stripped of basic access to clean water, food, and security.
The Illusion of Peace: A ‘Ceasefire’ in Name Only
Despite the official announcement of a ‘ceasefire’ on 10 October 2025, Israel’s genocide has never stopped. Through daily bombardments and targeted strikes, occupation forces have killed over 1,460 Palestinians since the agreement took effect.
A ‘ceasefire’ that permits the continued loss of hundreds of civilian lives every month is not peace – it is siege and murder by other means.
Silencing the Witness
From the opening hours of Israel’s genocide, the relentless bombardment of civilian life was paired with a calculated effort to strangle the truth on the ground. In the first four days alone, seven Palestinian journalists – Mohammed Jarghoun, Ibrahim Lafi, Mohammed Al-Salhi, Asaad Shamlakh, Said Al-Tawil, Mohammed Sobboh, and Hisham Al-Nawajha – were targeted and killed while documenting Israeli war crimes.
On 10 October 2023, Said Al-Tawil, editor-in-chief of Al-Khamsa News, photojournalist Mohammed Sobboh, and photographer Hisham Al-Nawajha were slain in a single targeted airstrike in Gaza City while reporting on the destruction of residential towers. Armed only with cameras, notebooks, and microphones, these reporters were murdered in a calculated attempt to execute the witness, erase the narrative, and blind the world to the crimes unfolding across Gaza.
The Calculated Architecture of Forced Transfer in the West Bank
It is important to note that Israel’s crimes are not limited to Gaza alone. Across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, the exact same project of Palestinian elimination is being executed through a lethal symbiosis between the military, state administration, and armed settler groups.
Settler violence has become a state-sanctioned policy designed to seize territory and displace entire communities. Through calculated terror – killing and harassing Palestinians daily, confiscating livestock, cutting off access to water, destroying schools, and enforcing constant surveillance – armed settlers and military forces operate as rogue forces who systematically target and terrorise Palestinian civilians and communities indiscriminately.
This policy has been explicitly admitted by senior Israeli government officials as an intentional strategy: to establish illegal outposts, terrorise and expel indigenous Palestinians, expropriate the land, and formalise the settlement.
Since early 2023, at least 130 Palestinian communities have been fully or partially depopulated, forcing thousands from their ancestral lands into bleak, makeshift internal displacement camps such as al-Awsaj. Settler attacks have surged to nearly seven per day, leaving dozens dead and thousands uprooted under the protective watch of the Israeli occupation forces.
Through aggressive outpost expansion, state-backed settlements now control roughly 18 per cent of the West Bank – a total land mass larger than the entire Gaza Strip.
A Call to Action: The Time to Act Is Now
This genocide cannot become ‘the past’ simply because time has passed. Every martyr has a name.
Every destroyed home carried a life.
Every targeted journalist was a witness to a crime.
And every inch of stolen Palestinian land remains part of an ongoing, active injustice.
On this anniversary, the Global Alliance for Palestine calls on civil society, trade unions, student organisations, and grassroots movements worldwide to mobilise globally by filling the streets, squares, parliaments, and media platforms from 9-11 October to demand an end to Israel’s genocide, the protection of the land, and an end to the occupation.
We must demand – as a matter of urgency – an immediate halt to the political, military, and economic support – led by Western governments, foremost the United States – that grants Israel complete diplomatic impunity, and resolutely reject any attempt to allow state violence, forced displacement, and military siege to become normalised as the status quo.
Moving Towards Accountability
Impunity can no longer be tolerated as an exception to the international order. World governments cannot profess devotion to international law and human rights while treating Palestinian survival as an anomaly exempt from those fundamental standards. Genuine solidarity requires more than passive sympathy; it demands relentless diplomatic pressure, systemic boycotts, popular mobilisation, and the total dismantling of policies that underwrite these crimes.
On this third anniversary, the global solidarity movement – led by the Global Alliance for Palestine and participating organisations across continents – pledges an unshakeable commitment to the Palestinian people.
We reaffirm the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, statehood on their national soil, and legitimate resistance against illegal occupation under international law. Our movement is not merely a memorialisation of tragedy; it is an active struggle for a future where Palestinians are no longer displaced, besieged, or forced to choose between death and exile.
Across every city, parliament, and continent, our demand remains resolute:
END THE GENOCIDE • DEFEND THE LAND • END THE OCCUPATION
We will not forget Gaza. We will not forget the West Bank. We will not forget Jerusalem. We will not forget Palestine.
Justice requires full accountability, an immediate end to the occupation, and an unyielding commitment to a Free Palestine.
